Song Of The Day: Will Oldham (Bonnie “Prince” Billy)- “The Seedling”

Will Oldham is like an ant hill.  You look at that kind face, that gentle (but oh so glorious) moustache, that proudly donned beer pudge, and you might not see much to it.  Though just beneath the surface is lies a wildly twisted mess of complications, thoughts, and emotions.  “The Seedling” is not a new song, its not even incredibly representative of Oldham’s style. However, if  you can manage to get through this song without at least a grimace at the desperation and quavering hoplessness betrayed by Oldham’s voice, then I have honest concerns about your ability to empathize…

However, if you’d rather see the brighter side of Bonnie “Prince” Billy (chemically-induced as it may be) then I can certainly recommend that you check out Tripping with Caveh a 2 hour chronicling of Billy’s Psychotropic mushroom experience with filmmaker Caveh Zahedi. Then ask yourself “do you ever speak directly to either the moon or sun?”….
