New York can return to its normally frumpy self now that Fashion Week has ended and the plus élégants have scattered for another year. The only highlight from that week that Some American will discuss: sartorialists have discerning musical taste, too, as is demonstrated by this poor sound-quality but nonetheless excellent video of the Dirty Projectors’ “Stillness Is The Move” with Solange Knowles at some assuredly awesome fashion after party in a NYC hotel. The best part by miles? When the band breaks it all down to allow Solange and Amber Coffman to do some vocal gymnastics, and Dave Longstreth slides in the slinky guitar lick from Erykah Badu’s “Bag Lady.” Well played, Dirty P’s. Well played indeed.
Speaking of Ms. Badu, The Internet has gotten its dirty mitts on a mastered copy of a new song. It features Lil’ Wayne and Bilal, it is called “Jump Up In The Air & Stay There”, and is quite odd. And quite good, too.
