The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, a landmark of French Quarter traditional-syle jazz, are teaming up with one hell of a roster of guests, and anyone with even the slightest interest in American music, jazz, blues, New Orleans, the history of popular American music, or anything remotely related to those should perk their ears up.

Lending their talents will be the venerable Tom Waits, Andrew Bird, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Steve Earle, Pete Seeger, Dr. John, Merle Haggard, Richie Havens, Ani DiFranco, and others. There will be no electronic beeps, wicked guitar riffs, or disaffected lyrics sung with a rich sense of ennui, just good, American music.

Check out the video above to get a taste of the album, out in February via RED, though sadly Mr. Waits’ contribution is not included in the footage.
